That Mother Fucker burned all night
Right outside my door
and just when I thought it might go out
Well, then it burned some more.
The smoke billowed up, the embers cracked
Wood chips hot to the core
I saw what I thought was the last flare
But then it burned some more.
There was grey ash that floated up
Then back down to the floor
Surely it could not go much longer
Yes it could; it burned some more.
I watched and waited for signs of death
It was quite a burden and a chore
Until at last the sun came up
And still it burned some more…
