The Well
Just when I think I’ve cried all there is to cry
That I’ve finally crossed over to the other side
To a place where the pain of things can’t hurt me anymore
I discover, uncover, or open another door.
Something new is revealed to me
Or I just open my eyes a little wider and therefore I see
And that is when I feel this mountain get even steeper
And learn that this well of tears is even deeper.
Yes more tears than I ever thought could be
And accepting the notion that the hurt can still cut to a bleed
Is a tough lesson to go through time and time again
Just when I think that my heart is on the mend.
But this challenge presents a special kind of lure
For as it happens I grow the strength to endure
And it somehow fills me with a gratitude for living
Just another well with an endless amount of giving.
