Releasing the Beast
I’m afflicted with empathy, and it’s affecting me.
My sadness swells with each passing moment
And the silence of this emotional violence is seeping;
Creeping into the pores of my thoughts,
Tying my troubled soul into knots.
I can’t focus, I can’t help,
And the music only makes it worse
With every melancholy verse.
No use trying to fight the beast,
So I surrender and therefore unleash.
But to my great surprise it opens up its eyes
And stretches out its massive wings
So as to shield me from all things.
I find my focus, foster help,
And weather the worst of the passing storm
Under its incredibly beautiful form.
